I'm delighted to be taking part in Photography's Tacit Knowledge, the 2026 Annual Conference of the Photographic History Research Centre (PHRC) at De Montfort University in Leicester. The conference is a hybrid event running on 15–16 June 2026, with keynote lectures from Mirjam Brusius and Kelley Wilder and a plenary from Jennifer Tucker.
I'll be presenting my paper, Photographic Practice Beyond Words: Tacit Knowledge, Dyslexia and the Ecological Wetroom, on Monday 15 June as part of Panel 1, "Silent Epistemologies."
This year's conference explores the many forms of implicit, embodied knowledge that photography has always relied upon — the kind of expertise that is difficult to put into words and is acquired only through practice — and asks how this hidden knowledge shapes photographic work, research, and interpretation in an increasingly interdisciplinary and AI-influenced landscape. It's a theme that sits very close to my own practice, and I'm looking forward to the conversations it will open up.
The complete programme of the conference can be found here.
