I'm thrilled to share that my artist book And So I Watch You From Afar, Concertina has been recognised at the Analog Sparks International Film Photography Awards. It received Gold in the Zines and Photo Book / Culture category and 2nd Place overall in Zines and Photo Book.
Analog Sparks is an international competition dedicated to film and analogue photography, founded by Hossein Farmani and Reka Koti. It means a great deal to see a handmade, process-led book recognised alongside such a wide range of analogue work from around the world.
Concertina is a 70-page cyanotype artist book that unfolds to 7.35 metres long and 30 cm high. I made it using a 19th-century iron-based photographic process that I've adapted to respond to the climate. Sunlight, polluted seawater, acid rain, salt and weather all act directly on the pages. As it unfolds, the book moves like a shifting coastline, suggesting erosion, rising seas and ecological fragility. It also asks how analogue photography can record a world that human activity has already changed.
This recognition comes shortly after the wider And So I Watch You From Afar project received the 2026 Denis Roussel Award, and I'm deeply grateful for the support the work has received this year. Thank you to the Analog Sparks team and jury, and congratulations to all of this year's winners.
